The Special Region of Yogyakarta is a Special Region at the provincial level in the Republic of Indonesia and is a fusion of the Duchy of Paku Alaman and the State of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta which has the motto “Hamemayu Hayuning Bawana” which means Beautifying the Beauty of the World. The Special Region of Yogyakarta is located in the southern part of Java Island, and is directly adjacent to the Province of Central Java and borders the Indian Ocean. The Special Region has an area of 3,185.80 square kilometers consisting of 1 municipality, and 4 districts, which are further divided into 78 sub-districts, and 438 villages / kelurahan.
