Gunung Prau also offers enchanting natural scenery such as verdant plantations, enchanting views of the Dieng plateau and Telaga Warna from a distance. No less interesting are the Daisy flower fields that are colored, the Teletubies hill to the views of several mountain peaks in Java, such as Mount Sindoro, Merapi, Merbabu, Sumbing and Slamet.

Mount Prau Ascent Path

To be able to reach the top of Mount Prau, climbers can choose from several hiking trails which of course have different levels of difficulty. The popular Mount Prau hiking trail has 3 paths, namely: Banteng Pathak Line in Wonosobo and Pranten Line, in Bawang District, Batang and Recommended Route in Kendal. Of the 3 routes, the Banteng Pathak route is the most favorite route chosen by most climbers, even nearly 90% of climbers use the Pathak route because it is considered closer.

To pass the Pathak Banteng hiking trail, climbers will be treated to sandy roads so you should use a mask when climbing especially if the dry season so that breathing is not disturbed due to flying dust. Pathak Banteng Line has a climbing track with different levels of difficulty in each of its posts in order to get to the top of Mount Prau. From the basecamp to the first post the level of difficulty is still relatively small as the climbing location is still in the residential area. Basecamp on the Pathak Banteng line is in the tourist area of ​​Dieng Plateu. Basecamp climbing is located about 50 meters east of the main road in the tourist area of ​​Dieng Plateu. While the path to the basecamp is only approximately 300 meters from the main gate of Dieng Plateu and on the right side of the road.

The climbers can start climbing from the basecamp by climbing stairs which number around 120 steps. After climbing the stairs then proceed with the sandy path that accompanies the trip to the summit. After the sandy path is complete, the climbers will find a road with a width of 2.5 meters rocky that has been neatly arranged and is also a vehicle lane. On this hiking trail, motorcycle taxi facilities have been provided for climbers who want to save time and energy with travel costs of approximately Rp. 20 thousand.

From the first post to the second post, the climbers will pass through the residents’ plantation area and there are several stalls around the climbing location that can be used to add to the provision of travel. From the second post to the third post, on the hiking trail this significant level of difficulty began to be felt so that the climbers should remain vigilant and careful. After the third post goes to the summit of Mount Prau, on this path the road conditions have begun to narrow with a ravine to the left and also a fairly steep road so it is advisable to be more vigilant and careful.

Choice of Climbing Time

There are 2 alternative climbing times that can be chosen by climbers, the first alternative is to start climbing around 01.00 WIB or early morning and estimated to peak at 04.00 WIB and can enjoy the enchanting golden sunrise. The second alternative is to start the climb at 2:00 a.m. and be expected to peak at around 5 p.m. and the selection of the second alternative time, the climbers can enjoy the sunset in the afternoon while setting up a tent at the top of Mount Prau in order to enjoy the beauty of the golden sunrise in the morning. It’s best to choose time in the dry season or in June-October to make the climb. Because in the dry season the emergence of a potential golden sunrise will look bigger, whereas in the rainy season it is likely that the sky conditions will tend to be cloudy, so the potential appearance of the potential golden sunrise will look smaller.
