Klaten Station is a class I train station located on Jalan H Samanhudi, Tonggalan, Klaten Tengah, Klaten Regency. Klaten Station is included in the Operational Area (DAOP) VI Yogyakarta. This station is near the by pass road that encircles the area of Klaten city. This station has 6 railway lines with lines 1 and 2 as a straight rail. The train that passes the Solo-Yogyakarta line mostly stops at this station. The trains that pass through this station are KA Argo Wilis, Bima, Wijayakusuma, Gajayana, Sancaka afternoon schedule, Malabar, Turangga, and Mutiara Selatan. The location of Klaten Station is close to the Ir Soekarno bus terminal so if you want to use it can also be close.
Klaten Station is the first station built on the line between Surakarta and Yogyakarta. The development was carried out because of the growing economy due to advances in the plantation industry, especially sugar. Construction of the Klaten Station station was completed in 1873. Previously, Klaten Station was one of the vortelanden railway lines connecting between Yogyakarta and Surakarta which continued to Semarang. The route which was previously managed by the NIS was initially only focused on transporting which will be exported through the port of Semarang, which is the result of industrial sugar cane, tobacco, coffee, etc. But in its development, the line is getting increasingly crowded after serving passenger transportation. Stations that were once small were then developed and supported by several facilities such as parking lots, toilets, boarding passes, etc., including official employees’ homes.
