Tilapia is an official fauna from the Klaten district and includes freshwater consumption types of fish. Tilapia is closely related to tilapia.

Tilapia is all omnivorous, plankton eaters, and various plant eaters, therefore it is estimated that fish can be used to control water weeds.

This fish is very easy to breed. Naturally, tilapia came from Syria in the north to east Africa to Congo and also Liberia; namely on the Nile (Egypt), Chad, Lake Tanganyika, Nigeria, and Kenya.

Tilapia eggs have a round shape and are yellowish in color and have a diameter of about 2.8 mm. Once spawned, female tilapia can remove as many as 300 to 1,500 eggs, adjusting to their body size. Tilapia has a unique habit that is after spawning, the female parent will suck the fertilized eggs in her oral cavity. This kind of behavior is called the mouth breeder or egg incubator in the mouth.

Because of the ease of maintenance and easy breeding, many countries have tilapia as consumption fish, including in Indonesia. Nammun because the meat taste is not so special, the price of tilapia is also not high. Tilapia meat, besides being sold fresh, is also often used as a filet.

Tilapia and tilapia are good sources of animal protein for human consumption.

The shortage of tilapia as a consumption fish, tilapia has a high content of omega-6 fatty acids but has low omega-3 fatty acids. This composition is not good for those who have circulatory related diseases.
