The community in Karanganyar Regency is certainly no stranger to the name Pancasila Park which is located in the heart of Karanganyar city. The Pancasila Park is not only used as a city park but is also used when at night as a place to earn fortune by street vendors. Because the location of the Pancasila Park is strategic and is located in the middle of the city, making Pancasila Park a special attraction for residents who want to recreation. The Pancasila Park has an area of +/- 6000m², every year the Pancasila Park is always structured, adding and improving infrastructure and facilities.
The construction of the 45th Monument in the Pancasila Park in the form of a Garuda Bird Statue and the Proclamator Bung Karno-Hatta further augmented the Pancasila Park to become more manly and exotic and strengthen its name and existence as a Pancasila Park. In the northern part of the park facing right with the Karanganyar Regent Service House building which is only separated by Lawu Street which is also an icon of the road in Karanganyar. To the west and east of the park there are several shopping buildings and food stalls, while in the southern part of the park is limited by Jalan Kapten Mulyadi.
And at night the atmosphere of the Pancasila Park will turn out to be crowded like the market because the Street Vendors (PKL) will use the Pancasila Park to earn money. Starting from peddling culinary wares to children’s toys. The activities of the Street Vendors (PKL) in the Pancasila Park usually start at 14.00 WIB until 21.30 WIB.
Pancasila Park From Time to Time
Pancasila Park was a traditional market in Karanganyar District. As with traditional markets, the merchandise traded consists of clothing, food to basic necessities.
The traditional market condition at that time was quite apprehensive, just like other traditional markets such as the floor was made of compacted black soil and during heavy rains it would flood. The area of traditional markets is about the size of a soccer field and at that time was the only market in the Karanganyar District.
The former Karanganyar Regent, Waluyo Cokro Darmanto, in around 1977, adopted a policy by arranging the face of Karanganyar. The policy taken is to move the location of the Karanganyar Market to a location close to Pelita Housing located in Bejen which is currently the Bejen / Tegalgede Market. Whereas the former Karanganyar Market was later organized into a public space that was transformed into a city park. The garden is planted with trees and added with animal statues, such as elephants, giraffes, etc. And coupled with a statue of struggle on the south side.
The merchants who were moved to the new location claimed that their merchandise was not too sellable, then they looked for another place that was more crowded like in the Jungke area, Karanganyar. The traders held their stalls among the settlements in the Jungke area, making the location around Jungke slum. Because of these considerations, the Government of Karanganyar Regency created a new market by buying land so that it became a government asset and made it a market now known as Pasar Jungke.
The period of the Karanganyar Regent, Drs. Juliyatmono, M.M in 2014 – 2017 beautified the Pancasila Park by installing paving and adding the Statue of the Republic of Indonesia Proclamator. It is hoped that the people of Karanganyar can use the Pancasila Park for activities, such as sports, taking pictures, halls, etc. But it turns out like the Javanese proverb “Wong is a Kuwi Javanese like and who is shifting”. Although currently it has been arranged into a public space, it turns out that the Pancasila Park still has the attraction of being a place of sale and purchase. The difference is now a night market that used to be a market during the day.
